Submission Guidelines
Apprentice Writer accepts simultaneous submissions. Entries cannot be considered if they are not submitted per guidelines.
Fiction & Nonfiction
Each submission should include only 1 story or personal essay
Single spaced
Times New Roman, 12pt. font
Cover page: Name, Email, Title
Name files (.docx, .pdf, etc.) as follows:
Last Name, First Initial (Genre), Title
Example:
Russell, K. (Fiction), Haunting Olivia
Poetry
Each submission should include only 1 poem
Single spaced
Times New Roman, 12pt. font
Cover page: Name, Email, Title
Name files (.docx, .pdf, etc.) as follows:
Last Name, First Initial (Genre), Title
Example:
Allen Poe, E. (Poetry), The Raven
*Note: You may only submit 5 times per genre. However, you may submit across multiple genres.
Photography & Art
Each submission should only include 1 photo or artwork
300 px. minimum
Photos: Color or Black & White
Art: All mediums welcome
Name files (.jpg, .png only) as follows:
Last Name, First Initial (Genre), Title
Example:
Widener, J. (Photography), Tank Man
Submission Period: October 24, 2022 through February 14, 2023
Please allow 4-8 months for a response regarding your submission.
Distribution of limited edition print publications will take place in Fall 2023.

*Apprentice Writer accepts simultaneous submissions. However, if your work is accepted, we ask that you notify future publications (that accept your work) that your piece was first published in Apprentice Writer. If your work is first accepted elsewhere, we ask that you notify us so that we can determine if it would be more appropriate to exclude the piece from our publication or provide acknowledgement of first publisher in our publication of your work.
